Notary Public

A Florida Notary Public is an "Official of Integrity” commissioned by the office of the Governor of the State of Florida. Notaries are appointed to serve the public as an impartial witness who performs a variety of fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents.

Document Notarization

Document notarization is essential to the validation of many documents. Whether you are buying or selling a property, executing a Will,  applying for something, or whatever business-related matter you might be involved in, you’ll become familiar with getting a document notarized.

Why do some documents need to be notarized?

The main purpose of having documents notarized is to ensure proper execution and to deter fraud. You might have heard of cases where one party denied signing a document, or someone being forced to sign a document, etc. Notarizing prevents these kinds of disputes.

WAIT, DON'T SIGN YET!
Sign in the presence of the notary

Florida law considers many documents to be important enough to be signed in the presence of a Notary Public.

The Notary Public is directly responsible for determining that the person who is signing, is who they say they are, before they sign the document.

So, wait for the Notary to first verify your ID before you sign your documents.

Doing so would be considered the unauthorized practice of law. Please consult an attorney or professional who can advise you on how your document should be notarized.
